Colorado officials revealed the identity of the Boulder supermarket hitman on Tuesday morning. Ahmad Alissa, 21, is accused of opening fire and killing 10 people in the Monday massacre.

The Boulder Police chief said on Tuesday that a 21-year-old man from a suburb of Denver was charged with 10 murders in a shooting that killed 10 people at a grocery store in Boulder, Colo, on Monday.

In a press release by law enforcement, his full name was determined as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa. A Facebook page that appears to belong to the suspect contains posts containing quotes from the Islamic Prophet Mohammed.

Alissa was shot during mutual gunfire with the responding officers and was transferred to a local hospital, where her condition was stable. “The man who shot them will be held entirely responsible,” said Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty during Tuesday’s press conference update. When asked whether the shooter was motivated by the police, he replied, “We haven’t found the answer yet.”

Police Chief Maris Herold identified the suspect as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa from Arvada, a suburb of Denver about 32 km from Boulder. Boulder County district attorney Michael Dougherty said he “spent most of his life in the United States.”

Chief Herold said the suspect was detained with a leg injury but is in stable condition and is expected to be imprisoned later Tuesday.
