Akhenaton Jones, 36, found that fellow officials issued an arrest warrant for the Fells murder. ABC6 was the first to report the arrest warrant on June 16. Fells, a black trans woman, was killed in early June. Her body was torn and brutalized and found on the Schuylkill River on June 8. He was 27 years old at the time of death.
Jones was originally described by the authorities as a 36-year-old Fells acquaintance. According to Alex Silverman of KYW News Radio, officials hope he will be in Atlanta and surrender.
Victim Body Found
Fells’ body was found last Monday on the Schuylkill River, near Bartram’s Garden in West Philadelphia. Authorities initially misled him and had trouble verifying the body’s identity due to the severity of the injuries he suffered. Fells’ legs were cut and his face and body were largely bruised when his body was found. Authorities said initially that Fells might have been taken over by a train due to the nature of his injuries. Officials said diving teams later found their legs in bags near their body location during the search for the two missing teams in the area.
Following news about Fells ‘tragic death, the Philadelphia Office of LGBT Affairs made a statement pointing to the ironic timing of Fells’ death, given that June is the month of Pride and Black Lives Matter protests are currently taking place across the country.

Police Searching Suspect Akhenaton Jones
According to KYW News Radio, police searched a West Philadelphia home this week in connection with Fells’ death. Authorities emerged from the house with a few bags of evidence, including station reports. It is possible that the saw was used as a tool for the disintegration of Fells, although the authorities have not yet made a statement about this particular evidence.

In a statement to Philly Voice, Fells was a lively woman with ambitious goals for her life. “She lived her truth so loudly that you could hear it a mile away,” said Stevens. Stevens and Fells came together in a rescue program serving trans- and gender-variable people in Philadelphia, broadcast reports. Stevens admitted that Fells had “demons” in her life, but she was very close to her mother and dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.
Stevens said of Fells’ death, “We’re devastated. We live with a constant fear of being assaulted and being murdered before our time. It seems to be a person of trans experience of color, that’s like death sentence.”
