Dean West (28 December 1987 – 6 April 2020), better known by his stage name Black the Ripper, was a British grime MC, rapper, businessman and a cannabis activist. He ran his own record label, Dank of England (formerly known as Black Magic Entertainment). It was soon made into a clothing line and marijuana accessory company.

He was also known for his viral stunts of smoking cannabis in public places in which he hoped would help legalised cannabis in the U.K.

From the earliest days of his childhood, he was interested in music and developed a love for it because he grew up around music. His father was a musician who greatly inspired him to get into music and listened for hours to musical artists like 2pac, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Bob Marley and almost all the biggest names in the 90’s. He did not like pop music however during the initial phase of his career, but he got in because money is the most important thing.

The main British media reported on his death that he died on April 6, 2020 while enjoying the holidays in Montserrat. However, no cause of death has yet been discovered and is survived by her five-year-old son. Speaking of his career, he began the musical journey when he was 13 years old and participated in various filthy battles on the Ax FM radio station. He really got attention for his song “Death is Promised” in 2005, “Motivation Music: Volume2” in 2007 and “Summer Madness” in February 2007. Dean began to earn his reputation for his huge hit “Holla Black” in March 2007. Later, from 2008 to 2012, he rose to fame and gained widespread attention across the country for his debut album “The Edmonton Dream”.

He drew attention not only through his footprints, but above all with his commitment to the legalization of marijuana. The rapper also caused a stir on his social media profile, especially with his provocative handling of cannabis. He posed with the hemp plant in numerous photos or was filmed smoking. Black The Ripper even founded his own company that sells intoxicant related products called “Dank of England”. He was last active on social media during August 2019 and since then, he suddenly disappeared from the social media scene.
