According to the police statement, the male suspect tried to get on the bus, but Parks told him that no passengers were allowed into the vehicle. According to the police, an argument ensued where the suspect grabbed the driver’s bag and took off. Parks got off the bus and followed him, at which point the suspect shot him. Witness Teddy Knight told Baltimore Sun that he saw the victim fall over a fence and was executed by the attacker.

He was lying there and the man came back and shot him again, ” Knight said, adding that the gunman had fired multiple shots and the injured driver was standing on him.

A police officer in the area heard the shots and tried to catch the gunman but could not.

It was announced by the first responders that Parks died at the scene.

At a press briefing Friday, Commissioner Harrison credited “old-fashioned detective work” and community cues to catch suspects.

It is unclear what role the woman played in or after the murder, as the charges against Silcott and Greene are still pending.

Parks worked as a bus driver for 20 years. He survived with his three sons.

MDOT is really a family. I’m very sad and worried that one of us was killed at work this morning, “Transport Minister Greg Slater,” I’m sympathetic to the Parks family. Mr. Parks and all our bus operators are critical to providing what is needed. Travel through this pandemic and every day. They deserve to serve the society with confidence. ‘

Baltimore Mayor Jack Young described Parks as a personal friend he first met while playing basketball.

He wasn’t a nuisance. He tried to get him to resolve conflicts with anyone who had conflicts, and he was just a great guy. ” Young said.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan covered Parks’ murder on Twitter and supported the police investigation.

“We were horrified this morning at the pointless murder of an @MTAMaryland bus operator – one of our key frontline workers who just did his job,” he wrote.
