Authorities say it was researching American skyscrapers as potential targets – but it wasn’t immediately clear if there were any New York landmarks on its list.

Filipino news sources widely reported that he was arrested in July 2019, but details of the alleged conspiracy were unknown at the time. According to the website Rappler, when Abdullah was arrested, he had a bomb and a bomb machine.

“Nearly 20 years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, there are those who are determined to launch terrorist attacks against the citizens of the United States. “We claim that Abdullah is one of them. The accident is within our borders,” FBI Deputy Director-in-Chief William Sweeney said in a statement regarding the indictment.
