Pfc. Christian G. Alvarado, a soldier listed in the 1st Armored Division at the Texas base, was formally charged with three sexual assaults. A soldier from Fort Bliss has accused of sexual assault a soldier from his unit found dead almost a year later.

Among them, Alvarado is accused of raping the 19-year-old Pfc. Asia Graham was unconscious at Fort Bliss on December 30, 2019.

Fort Bliss soldier is charged with the 2019 rape of a female private

He was found dead in the barracks room last New Year’s Eve, a year and a day after the first alleged attack took place.

Although the cause of Graham’s death has not been disclosed, the Army says they do not suspect foul play and await the results of the autopsy.

Alvarado was on trial Thursday on charges of three sexual assaults, two misrepresentations, and one grave assault in violation of the Military Judicial Uniform Code at a general court meeting in Fort Bliss.

Graham was a human resources specialist who joined the Army in July 2019. He came to Fort Bliss in December 2019 after completing Basic Combat Training in Missouri and Advanced Individual Training in South Carolina. It was only a few weeks in the base before the alleged attack took place.

He reported the attack to the chain of command six months later on 1 June, and an investigation was launched immediately.

The accusation papers show that Alvarado was interviewed on June 11 when CID agents allegedly made false statements to investigators.

Alvarado told a CID agent that Graham was on top of him during sex.

The agent said that such a claim was false, as Graham was unconscious on his account.

Graham was assigned to the same battalion as Alvarado, and her mother, Nicole Graham, told WBTV in North Carolina that her daughter’s ‘smile’ was a ‘beautiful soul’ that illuminated the room.

I was in military life. I’ve talked very well about the military, but in his case, I think the leadership failed him, ‘Graham said earlier this month.

Do I think he was killed? No. But I think if he had been better managed from the beginning, I think he had gotten the proper help before and would have been fine. ‘

“He was ready to fight,” said his brother Andrew Koenigsfeld. Then this was taken away.

He described his sister as ‘heart of gold’ and said he was a motivational force.

“Every time I talk to my sister every day, always” Go achieve your goals. What do you want to do with your life? “He preaches Koenigsfeld., ‘Wrote the episode in a Facebook post. His loss is felt not only in our formations, but throughout the Army. We have lost a skilled human resources expert who wants nothing more than to serve his country and his fellow warriors.’

Graham’s awards and decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Strip.

Alvarado was also accused of two more sexual assaults in May and August last year, but the names of the victims are unknown.

As a reminder to the Fort Bliss community, the charges are just charges and Pfc. According to the Fort Bliss press release on Saturday, Alvarado, like all Americans, is considered innocent until proven guilty.

The trial date for Alvarado’s court-martial has not yet been set. Fort Bliss participates in a number of sexual assault allegations and deaths, including the latest Army base to face intense scrutiny in recent months, Fort Hood and Fort Bragg where Vanessa Guillen was killed.

Finally, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a 31-year-old soldier Sergeant Keith Lewis shot his severely pregnant wife in front of his three-year-old daughter, and turned his gun to him in a terrible murder-suicide on December 20.

Earlier that same month Master Sergeant. William Lavigne, 37, and Timothy Dumas, 44, Army veteran, were found dead on December 2 at a training ground in Fort Bragg, in an incident suspected of a drug deal gone wrong.

Fort Bragg has seen fewer eyebrow-raised deaths on top compared to Fort Hood, with only one murder reported in 2020 before the latest investigations begin.
