Authorities said a Maryland woman shot the officer’s husband and then committed suicide. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that police found two dead in Waldorf homes. The police said they found evidence that the woman shot her husband first and then herself.
Authorities identified the couple as 41-year-old Christina Lynn Francis and 50-year-old Timothy Eugene Francis.
Timothy Francis was reportedly a veteran detective with the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department.

“It is extremely difficult to mourn the tragic loss of our colleague and friend,” MPD Chief Peter Newsham said in a statement according to WTOP. “Detective Francis has spent two decades protecting the community from violence and to learn that he was killed is heartbreaking.
DC officer killed by wife
The authorities, a D.C. homicide detective said he was killed by his wife before he was fatally shot at their home in Waldorf, Maryland.
A family member found 50-year-old Timothy Eugene Francis and 41-year-old Christina Lynn Francis dead in their home in Marylea Court at around 6 pm. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday.
Evidence suggests that Christina Francis shot Timothy Francis before he shot himself, according to officials. It is not clear when and why the attack occurred.
D.C. Timothy Francis has been a member of the Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years, police said.
“It is extremely difficult to mourn the tragic loss of our colleague and friend,” Police Chief Peter Newsham said in a statement. “Detective Francis spent twenty years protecting society from violence, and it’s sad to learn that he was the victim of a murder.”
Expressing his sympathy with the police union, “Tim was always a confident man. We are all still stunned by this news. MPD lost a real detective today and will not be replaced soon.”

Tim was one of the best detectives in CID. His father was also a detective who worked for MPD for about 45 years. Tim was a man who always kept his place. We are all still stunned by this news. MPD lost a true detective today and will not be replaced soon.
He was recently a detective at the MPD’s homicide branch. The branch captain told other detectives about the murder in a message he received from News4.
