The family of 22-year-old Amethyst Killian reported her disappearance on November 26 and said she went to a convenience store on Main Street to buy cigarettes and never returned, according to a possible cause statement.
The next day, Killian’s boyfriend and stepfather called him and found his bag and clothes on North Church Road, about 75 meters from his home. They called the police who found Killian’s body under a heavy brush. Officers also found a knife nearby.
The statement states that Killian was stabbed in the head, neck and abdomen several times. The baby she was carrying was dead.
St. “This was not a random act of violence,” Charles County Attorney General Tim Lohmar told reporters. “It was a targeted act of violence.”
Lohmar said Killian, a five-month-pregnant mother of two, had been stabbed in the head, neck and stomach the most.
Lohmar said he met Delgado after contacting him on a messaging app called TextNow, and the couple was “dealing with a potentially dangerous situation” before his death.
“Other than that, there was no connection between the victim and Delgado,” Lohmar said.
The prosecutor refused to provide details during the press conference, but a source close to the subject told The Post that they met for consensual sex. The duo last communicated in the app at 1:15 pm Thanksgiving, a description of possible causes.
Lohmar said the evidence, including blood droplets on the scene and a surveillance video from a gas station, was taking investigators to Delgado.
Lohmar said detectives went to Delgado’s house on Tuesday and learned that he had attempted suicide the day before by cutting off his arms on the front porch of his house.
After being taken to the hospital for treatment, Delgado was later accused of murdering Killian and his unborn child after his DNA matched evidence on the scene and a suspected murder weapon.
Lohmar said the number of second-degree murders he encountered was related to Killian’s unborn fetus.
Relatives said that Killian was the mother of Marley, a 6-year-old girl, and an 11-month-old boy Hendrix. KSDK reported that he previously lived with his mother, step-father, two children and boyfriend.
Delgado was indicted late Wednesday, detained on Thursday for $ 1 million in bonds, Lohmar said, adding that he previously had “little” criminal history. It was not immediately clear whether he was hiring a lawyer or not.
Asked about the reason for the killing, Lohmar said Delgado didn’t explain anything to the detectives.
“I wish I knew a reason at this point – we don’t know,” Lohmar said. “There’s a very, very violent murder. There must be a reason; at this point we don’t know what it is. The person who can tell us that this is the defendant has chosen not to do it until now.”
Investigators found that Killian searched the phone records and used an app called Text Now to communicate with a 27-year-old man named Damion Delgado. The police went to Delgado’s home in O’Fallon, Missouri and found out that he was trying to kill him and he was taken to DePaul Hospital.
St. Charles County Attorney Tim Lohmar said the two used the app to meet on the evening of November 26th. Security cameras near the market shot the video of Delgado.
“This was not a random act of violence,” Lohmar said at a news conference on Thursday. “This was a targeted act of violence.”
Investigators analyzed the blood found on the crime scene and on the knife and matched it with Delgado. The defendant is on trial for first degree murder, second degree murder and armed crime.
