Daniel Prial Education & Career
Prial, a 2008 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has served in the Army since 2012 after earning a commission at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served as the medical evacuation platoon leader in the 82nd Aviation Combat Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2014 and 2015, he was deployed to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division and served as an instructor pilot for students in Fort Rucker, Alabama, where the Army trained helicopter pilots.
Prial reached the rank of captain before agreeing to appoint as a search warrant officer in the New York Army National Guard in order to continue flying. He was working as a federal technician at the Rochester International Airport Army Aviation Support Facility. The UH-60 was authorized to fly the Black Hawk helicopter and had 670 flight hours.
His awards include the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Merit Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Global War Service Medal against Terrorism, Afghan Campaign Medal and Army Aviator Badge.
