Daniel Prude Wiki – Daniel Prude Biography
Daniel Prude is a Chicago man who died in Rochester, New York, after police officers captured him and put a white spit hood over his head.
Prude died in March 2020, but caused protests in September over the release of a graphic body camera video that sheds new light on his death. He shows police that he met Prude naked on the street. He is seen in the video with a mesh bag over his head. An official says in the video that Prude told them it was COVID-19, which could explain the use of the saliva hood.

You can watch the police body camera video in the death below. Remember this is graphic and distracting. Free the People Roc acquired the video and wrote on Facebook: “** Warning ** This video contains graphic content such as nudity and the murder of an unarmed black man by members of the Rochester, NY police force.”
Democrat & Chronicle, a local newspaper, made comparisons between Prude’s death and the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The newspaper Daniel T. wrote that the cause of Prude’s death was drowning.
The police investigation report into the death found that the officers’ actions “appeared appropriate and consistent with training”. The Attorney General’s office is still investigating the death. Democrat & Chronicle reported that the civil servants were on active duty and had no discipline.

The body camera video was edited and broadcast by the Prude family lawyers. Get down man. An officer says in the video above, put your hands behind your back, don’t move .. calm down my friend, don’t move ”. “A man in custody,” said an officer. Prude is shown face down with his hands cuffed behind his back. At first he says, “Yes sir,” but then he gets more and more nervous.
“For God’s sake, I’m going to sue you … Let me go man … keep my fucking away from me. Give me your gun, I need it man,” he said to the officers.
Prude is surrounded by more than one officer. He then sits down, lies on his side, and an officer puts a cap in the net over his face.

“Jesus Christ, I pray,” he said at another point, again using graphic language about his genitals. Get this out of my mom’s face.
You are trying to kill me! Prude says elsewhere in the video.
An officer tells Prude to “stop spitting” and you can hear Prude’s spitting. Then officers approach and an officer puts pressure on him. Someone says Prude almost got hit by a car. An officer handcuffs him.
Then you saw a mesh bag over his head and a policeman pressing his hands on Prude’s head as he seemed to lie down. This continues for a while.
Prude gets even more anxious. “Relax, buddy,” said an officer. “Give me the gun,” Prude said, but his speech is getting quieter. It looks like an officer is putting pressure on his head. Prude then goes quiet.
It looks like an officer is pressing his knee against Prude, and a second officer puts pressure on his body during the video. “He feels very cold,” said one officer.
“He says he has a corona,” said another officer.
Prude fell silent and an ambulance arrived. Are you okay? an officer asks. “Oh, just water vomited; an officer said all that water came out of his mouth.” Hey man are you vomiting?
Prude is silent. “He’s still moving his arm,” a policeman said, holding Prude’s arm, but there seemed to be no movement. “Put him on his side,” said an officer. Now he has started vomiting. It looks like he doesn’t even have chest compression, ”said an officer.
They start CPR. Officers are going to buy hand sanitizer. A female paramedic helps with CPR and expresses an excited delusion, “It’s not your men’s fault. You have to keep yourself safe.”
According to the appeal, the police handcuffed Prude, “he taunted him, put a net bag on his head, knelt on his back and pushed his face to the ground until he stopped breathing.” Prude was unarmed. Democrat & Chronicle described the video as follows: “It shows at least three officers, who, holding Prude face down, forcing his head and chest to the sidewalk for several minutes, until they stop breathing unnoticed by the officers.”
Democrat & Chronicle named officers Officer Mark Vaughn and Officer Troy Talladay in the video.
Joe Prude Statement
Prude’s brother, Joe Prude, spoke to The Appeal. He said he called police for help after his brother, in the words of The Appeal, “was acting strangely and had suddenly bolted out the back door. ”
“That was a lynching,” Joe Prude told The Appeal. “That was cold-blooded murder. … My brother was a loving individual. He was a likeable guy and a damn good brother. He made people laugh. He brought joy to people. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.”
According to Democrat & Chronicle, Prude’s family told the police that he might be in PCP (toxicology tests showed this to be true); He was in Rochester with his family after he drove an Amtrak to Buffalo where he was thrown off the train. The newspaper reported that he later exhibited disturbing behavior, including jumping “down the basement stairs”, so Prude’s brother called the police and was taken to the hospital for a mental health assessment and released. The restraining incident started after Prude left the back door at 3:00 am and asked his brother to call 911 again for help. Later, it may have broken the windows of a business.
The killing of Daniel Prude by Rochester police officers is unacceptable, and we need real answers for why this happened and why it took so long to come out.

- On March 23rd, 2020 the Rochester Police Department (RPD) executed a Black man named Daniel Prude. Mr. Prude was naked, unarmed, and experiencing a mental health crisis. Daniel’s brother Joe had called 911 for help. No one trained to respond to a mental health crisis arrived at the 400 Block of Jefferson Avenue — Rochester police did. Daniel complied with all orders by the police.
- While cuffed, naked, and laying on the freezing cold ground, RPD officers mocked Daniel Prude and cracked jokes, and put a bag over his head. RPD officers Mark Vaughn, Troy Talladay, and Fransisco Santiago then proceeded to swarm him. While Taladay forced his knee into Daniel’s back and Santiago held down his legs, Vaughn pushed Daniel’s head into the ground using all of his body weight — essentially doing a triangle pushup on his head. Less than ten minutes after he was cuffed, Daniel Prude breathed his last conscious breath.
