Only ONE was old enough to have a gun, only ONE killed two people, and ONE is dead. How is posting him with a gun proof that he deserved to die? #deonkay #JusticeForDeon pic.twitter.com/FanSIYCjxl

A crowd of protesters seeking justice for the 18-year-old began to gather at 20:30. Outside the police department, ABC7 reported.
The station said many were chanting “come back” slogans to officers who came out to face them.
ABC7, a protester was heard saying, “You’re about to lose your job because you’re killing us for no reason.”
The #JusticeForDeon hashtag started trending on Twitter on the night of September 2 and over 10,000 tweets the next morning.
While many users called for the expulsion of the police, others compared Kay’s death to the reaction of the police Kenosha hitman Kyle Rittenhouse.
I’m tired of demonizing victims of violence and justifications for murder. There is no reason the cops should be shooting someone, or exerting themselves physically. Idc if he has a criminal record. Idc if he even had a gun. No justification for being shot in the back. #DeonKay pic.twitter.com/7BnOE4HTOs
