An Ohio man who is accused of helping a 17-year-old boy commit suicide by buying him a gun and ammunition has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Duncan R. McElroy, 19, has been charged in the death of Ace Stenger who was found dead in Brecksville, just outside Cleveland, on July 12.

Prosecutors argue that McElroy bought the gun and ammunition, drove Stenger to the Brecksville Reservation and then helped the teen shoot himself in the head two months ago.

A man facing charges for allegedly assisting the suicide of a teen in a Cuyahoga County Metropark this summer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday morning.

A judge banned McElroy from using a cell phone, social media or computers. He also must wear a GPS monitor and has been placed on house arrest at a group home where he is living.

Authorities were alerted to the teenager’s death back on July 12 when McElroy called 911 and told them his friend had killed himself.

First responders found McElroy beside his teenage friend’s body when they arrived.

McElroy had initially told police that Stenger had stolen the rifle, which he had bought a day earlier, from his car.

He was also ordered to not use a cell phone, social media or computers. He must wear a GPS bracelet for location monitoring and was placed on house arrest at the group home he is residing at.

He later changed his story and said he had bought the gun and given it to Stenger.

The pair had only met about two weeks before the teenager died, according to prosecutors.

He allegedly tried to help Stenger kill himself on July 8 but wasn’t successful.

McElroy is charged with murder, assisting suicide, improperly furnishing firearms to a minor, pandering obscenity involving a minor and falsification.

He will face court next week for a preliminary hearing.
