The Daily News reported that Florea was a self-identified Proud Boy and was detained after authorities found a gun at home. The outlet reports that Florea has written articles online about taking an armed caravan to the Capitol.

According to a NYPD source, Florea has an arrest dating back to 2014 in New York City. The 40-year-old was charged with the criminal possession of a machine gun at his home on Bethel Street in Staten Island at the time.

Florea is expected to be introduced in the Eastern District on Wednesday. It was not immediately clear what charges he faced, as a court spokesman refused to comment.

He was the third person arrested in the city on Tuesday. Aaron Mostofsky was arrested at his Brooklyn home after being seen in the US Capitol during the January 6 riot.

He was photographed with an animal skin, police body armor and a Capitol Police shield.

Mostofsky, the son of a NY Supreme Court judge, was on trial on charges, including theft of government property in the East District. He was ordered to stay away from Washington at trial and was released on a $ 100,000 bond.

Metro-North worker Will Pepe was also arrested Tuesday, according to a spokesman for the Southern District of New York.

Pepe is expected to be tried on Wednesday morning at White Plains.

The MTA said on Friday that Pepe was suspended for free after falling ill to join the siege of the Capitol.
