According to the Daily Mail, Brazilian model Eloisa Pinto Fontes, who was reported missing in New York in 2019, was recently found “lonely and bewildered” in a slum of Rio in Brazil. The model, who once graced the covers of well-known magazines such as Elle, Grazia and Glamor, was found on October 6 at the Morro do Cantagalo favela in Rio in the southeast of the country.

Fontes was found by a local neighborhood watchdog. The model was reported to be wandering “shirtless and without shoes for two days”. Fontes was carrying nothing but a backpack with documents. The documents are reported to be made up of contracts with international modeling agencies and references from international photographers.
Reports indicate that Fontes “disappeared” from New York City in early 2019 and was found five days later, on a street in the city of White Plains, about 30 minutes’ drive from central Manhattan. He was “visibly confused” when he was first seen after his disappearance, according to Mirror UK.

Disappeared, the model lived in New York with her husband and model friend Andre Birleanul. He reportedly met the Russian-Romanian model at the age of 18, at the age of 34 and while living in Sao Paulo. They share a daughter together who was born in 2013. The couple got married in 2014. Reports indicate that Fontes and Birleanu left shortly after they disappeared. It is said that she holds custody of her seven-year-old daughter.
Meanwhile, Oglobo reports that he decided to return to Brazil earlier this year and moved to Rio to seek work. He had not informed his family about his whereabouts, and they could not communicate with him and continued to search for him. They are reported to live in a different part of Brazil.
However, one of the modeling agencies that contacted Fontes announced that their organization agreed to help him get a job as his career came to a halt after his disappearance. He told the agency that in addition to expressing his interest in finding work in his hometown, he could “go to Germany and New York for work”. However, modeling agency “Joy” did not conclude any contract with Fontes “before the epidemic,” says the Daily Mail.
According to the Daily Mail, Fontes stayed with his friend when he first arrived in Rio and eventually moved in with his then-boyfriend, where the romance lasted for about four months. Fontes is said to be in a “paranoid state” who was reluctant to go to the police when found. Her mother has been informed of her whereabouts and will go to Rio to take care of her.
