Flavaine Carvalho Arrested

An 11-year-old boy was evicted from his home and his family was in prison after a waiter perceived him and later realized there was something wrong with the boy. He used a note to ask if he was okay, and the boy responded negatively and pointed out that he needed help. The fast-thinking waiter has been identified as Flavaine Carvalho. Her boss, Rafaela Cabede, said at a press conference on January 14 that she was not scheduled to work a shift at the Ms. Potato restaurant on New Year’s Day, but should fill it up when another member of the staff said she was sick.

Cabede said that after a very busy day due to the holiday, the activity at the restaurant finally slowed down and that the family accompanied by the child was the last meal of the night. According to a CNN report, “We truly believe this is a sacred provision, and we were very lucky to be able to help this kid.” Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon praised Carvalho at the press conference, “If he hadn’t intervened, we would probably be talking about a possible murder investigation.” Carvalho said the boy was wearing glasses, a mask, and a hoodie, but he could see all his bruises looking out from behind. Then, handing him a handwritten note, “Are you okay?” No she shook her head. Carvalho said the boy was very thin and that the only person at the table of four was two adults and a girl, a girl who did not eat anything, although food was brought to the table and everyone was eating. She noticed that she was very quiet even when the others were speaking. He walked over to the table to ask if the food and drinks were okay, and one of the adults at the table told him that the boy would have dinner at home. That’s when Carvalho started thinking that something was happening.

By then She had noticed a scratch between her eyebrows, but when she approached the table to check them, she saw bruises on the boy’s face and arm, and she decided to help him. A few minutes later he gave a second signal behind his family and said, “DO YOU NEED HELP?” Asked. he shook his head yes. This is when he first called his boss and then called 911 and told the officers he was worried about the child.

The police came to the restaurant and then questioned the 11-year-old who was brought up by the police about all the abuses he suffered against his stepfather, identified as Timothy Lee Wilson II, Detective Erin Lawler from Orlando Police. He said at the Special Victims Unit press conference. According to a news release from the Orlando Police Department, the boy revealed that he was hit with a wooden broom, hanging upside down from a door, and refusing to be given food regularly as punishment. Lawler said Wilson was immediately arrested at the restaurant and the boy’s mother, Kristen Swann, was also detained on January 6 after the boy disclosed details of the alleged abuse.
According to court records, Lee Wilson II was charged with numerous aggravated child abuse and neglect. Swann was charged twice with juvenile neglect after admitting to detectives that he knew the abuse and did not seek medical attention for his son. A 4-year-old boy was also evicted from his home after his parents’ arrest, but it was found that he had suffered any harassment.

Abuse & Detail

After being admitted to the hospital, the boy was found to be 20 kg underweight for his age. His body was covered with bruises at different stages of healing. “If Mrs. Carvalho hadn’t said anything when she saw that the little boy would probably not be with us any longer,” Lawler said at the press conference. He also said that the boy had told the investigators that he had been harassed by his family on Christmas Day, who had suggested he be punished by Santa Claus. Her hands were cuffed behind her back and with ratchet straps on her wrists to a furniture cart and asked to release herself.
