Authorities said a man who allegedly attacked his girlfriend brutally beat him after he was released on bail. News 9 reported that 21-year-old Gage Ford of Muskogee formed a bond with allegedly beating his girlfriend Ally Stephens 19 in early October. Stephens reported the first attack to the Norman Police Department on 1 October.
Stephens said that during the first attack, Gage strangled him and kicked him in the stomach repeatedly while demanding to “get rid of him”. Stephens is four months pregnant.
Although the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office requested a $ 30,000 bond for Gage, Judge Scott Brockman reportedly set the bond at $ 1,500.
According to police, Gage attacked Stephens again on October 17th. The beating was so severe that Stephens was hospitalized.
“We have a victim who was beaten unrecognizably, and that wasn’t supposed to happen. We are getting ahead of these judges, we want them to listen to our victims and listen to us and our decision,” said District Attorney Greg Mashburn.
“I have to do something for the victims and be able to tell them that I have tried… Well, judge, when I see a model that puts people at risk, I cannot say that you decided not to do it. ”
Muskogee Now reported that Brockman did not believe in arresting the suspects before the trial.
“What he said in the open court is that people don’t believe they should vouch for before being convicted,” Mashburn said.
Meanwhile, Stephens said she was recovering and the baby was “perfect” and “strong.” He hopes that by sharing his story, other victims of domestic violence will get away from the abusers.
You cannot save them. Never ignore the signs. There is always help you can go to. You can call anyone and they will help you and remain strong. ”
Gage was arrested again and charged with domestic abuse of a pregnant woman. This time his bail was set at $ 250,000.
