Jacqueline De Paz Arrest & Charge
According to the Aurora police press release, De Paz was among a group of seven people who threatened to leave the dining hall without paying – allegedly complaining to their servers that their food was cold due to an open door and open air vents in the restaurant.
According to police, witnesses told investigators that an argument broke out between the guests and the presenter before they spilled into the parking lot.
Police said the presenter followed the customers outside and demanded that they pay the bill and threatened to call 911.
When police allegedly encountered the presenter after she began taking photos of the cars and license plates of the women in the group, the dispute was physical.
At this point, customers from a nearby table left the restaurant to come to the server’s defense. According to the police, the fight was divided into two groups: women fighting women and men fighting men.
According to the police, a witness said he saw Arguello-Rios assaulted and fell to the ground. Another witness alleged to the police that at the same time De Paz pulled out a gun and pointed to the crowd. Police said Arguello-Rios noticed this and “got up and ran towards De Paz to try to get the gun from him.”
Witnesses reported that they heard a gun being fired. Eyewitnesses said that Arguello-Rios did not say a word to the alleged murderer and that he was unarmed during the shooting.
Arguello-Rios rushed to Aurora Medical Center, where he later died from a bullet wound in his chest.
Police, De Paz, and the rest of the group fled the area immediately after the incident.
Court documents show that De Paz, who went to court for the first time on Monday, was also charged with grave threats. He has not yet made a defense of the charges against him and information about his lawyer was not immediately available.
She is in custody with a $ 1 million bond and has a preliminary hearing for January 28, 2021.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover Arguello-Rios’ upcoming funeral.
