According to WTOL, Douglas was shot outside of a pizza restaurant at 11:30 in Toledo. Tuesday night. The police told WTOL that there was a fight between the two men outside the restaurant. Douglas was later transferred to the hospital where he died. No arrests were made.
Toledo’s defense linesman Jahneil Douglas died after being hit Tuesday night, the university confirmed on Wednesday morning in a statement. Douglas became the victim of an incident that occurred outside of a restaurant around 23:30. Close to the city center of Toledo. He was 22 years old.
According to the case’s detectives, a fight between the two men outside of Gino’s Pizza caused a fire to open. The victim was later taken to the hospital and later died. There is no arrest in the case yet, although there is a surveillance video in the restaurant where the shooting was taken.
“We were all shocked to learn of the tragic death of Jahneil Douglas,” Toledo athletic director Mike O’Brien said. “This is a devastating loss for our football team and our University and a very sad day for all of us in Rocket Nation. Our deepest condolences go out to Jahneil’s family and friends.”
Rockets head coach Jason Candle described Douglas as a “hard-working young man who was loved by his teammates and coaches.”
“The Toledo Football family is heartbroken by the loss of Jahneil,” Candle said. “He was a hard-working young man who was loved by all his teammates and coaches. Our sincerest condolences go out to Jahneil’s family and friends during these difficult times. Jahneil will forever be a part of the Rocket Football family.”
