Jerry Stiller Wiki – Jerry Stiller Bio
Actor and comedian Jerry Stiller, who rose to prominence in a duo with his wife, Anne Meara, and won hearts as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, has died at 92 years old. His son, actor Ben Stiller, confirmed his death in a tweet on Monday. “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Stiller said.
Stiller was born in Brooklyn in 1927. After serving in World War II, he joined his wife, Anne Meara, to form the comedy duo Stiller and Meara, a practical movement motivated by love. “We wanted to keep the marriage together,” she joked, she was tall and Catholic, he was short and Jewish, and until they partnered, “we never got a job together,” Stiller told the Archive of American Television.
Years after they left the comedy act, Stiller turned a recurring role in Seinfeld as Frank Costanza, George’s crazy and creative father, into one of the most memorable comedy characters in history. The show was already in its fifth season when Stiller took over the role, which he played for less than 30 episodes. Strange Frank Costanza is known for his explosive anger and his left field ideas, like Festivus, a winter break “for the rest of us.” Stiller continued acting and acting in commercials at the end of his life, including in his son’s Zoolander movies. He is remembered by his son, daughter, Amy Stiller, and millions of Seinfeld fans everywhere. “He was a great father and grandfather, and the most devoted husband to Anne for about 62 years,” continued Ben Stiller. “We will miss him very much. I love you Papa.”
