According to Fox13 Tampa, the roadway where the accident occurred was closed for about seven hours in both directions early this morning.
The station also reported that Madsen was the third police officer killed on duty this year in the Tampa Bay area, following incidents involving officers from the Hillsborough County and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Offices, respectively, in January and February.
