Jessica Krug, also known as Jess La Bombalera, is a white woman, writer, and professor of history at George Washington who admits to pretending to be black. Krug exposed himself in a Medium article titled “The Truth and the Anti-Black Violence of My Lies” published on September 3.
“I am not a culture vulture,” said Krug, 38. I am a culture leech. “Krug said he grew up in Kansas City as a white Jewish boy but acquired various Black identities as an adult.
Jessica Krug Background & Early Life
“To an increasing degree throughout my adult life, I avoided my experience as a white Jewish boy in a suburb of Kansas City under various presumed identities in a Blackness that I had no right to claim: first North African Black, then US-based Blackness, then Caribbean root to Bronx Blackness. “When I had absolutely no rights, I didn’t demand these IDs as just my own.” Medium writes.
On his page, Krug, who teaches six lectures at George Washington University, is a historian on “politics, ideas and cultural practices in the African and African Diaspora”. “He is deeply concerned with the intellectual histories of those who never wrote documents and the use of embodied knowledge for both research and teaching.”
Krug’s 2018 book Fugitive Modernities: Politics and Identity Outside the State in Kisama, Angola, and America was published through Duke University Press. Krug, who graduated with a PhD. It plans to release a second from the University of Wisconsin-Madison called Fathers of No Nation in 2012.
Jessica Krug Health Problems
Krug said at the beginning of his experiment that he extorted the people he loved. Krug later wrote that he had battled “mental health demons” throughout his life.
“Mental health issues explain why as a teenager I initially assumed a false identity and why I have continued and developed for so long,” he wrote. “The mental health professionals with whom I seek help so belatedly reassure me that this is a common reaction to some of the serious traumas that marked my early childhood and adolescence.”
Krug added that he was a “culture leech”, saying that his mental health did not justify his claim to Black culture.
- But mental health issues can never, will never, neither explain nor justify, neither condone nor excuse, that, in spite of knowing and regularly critiquing any and every non-Black person who appropriates from Black people, my false identity was crafted entirely from the fabric of Black lives. That I claimed belonging with living people and ancestors to whom and for whom my being is always a threat at best and a death sentence at worst.
Krug Refers To Herself As a Coward
Weird story of the day: Jessica Krug, a white woman from Kansas, has been pretending to be Black for her entire professional career, and now she’s apologizing for it:

Twice on the trial Krug called himself a coward.
Many times over the years I thought of ending these lies, but my cowardice was always stronger than my ethics. I know right from wrong. I know the date. I know the power, ”he wrote. I am a coward.
Then he said it a second time. “I’m a coward,” Krug wrote. “No ignorance, no innocence, nothing to claim, nothing to defend. For years I have acted in every way wrong. ”

Krug wants to take responsibility for his actions and wrote that this must result in its cancellation.
“I believe in restorative justice whenever possible, when and where I don’t even know what it means or how it will work,” Krug said. “I believe in responsibility. And I believe in the abolition of culture as a necessary and correct tool that those with less structural power can use against those with more power.”
He continued, “I absolutely have to cancel. No. I never write in passive voice because I believe we must name power. So. You should definitely cancel me and I’m definitely canceling myself. ”
The professor doesn’t expect anyone to forgive him, and he doesn’t want them to do that either.
“There are no words in any language to express the depth of my regret, but still: it should not be,” he wrote. “Words never matter.”
But I can’t fix this. I burned every bridge and I don’t expect any of my relationships to be fire resistant, ”he continued. I never ask and never ask for forgiveness. I miss repairing my relationships no matter the need of those I hurt, but only those I hurt can willingly decide. ”

Some social media users compared Krug to Rachel Dolezal, former head of the NAACP division in Washington Spokane, who claimed to be “interracial”.
One of these people is, “Wait.” It was Bad Feminist writer Roxane Gay who tweeted. Does Rachel Dolezal have a sister named Jessica Krug? How many more of these people are there other than Talkum X? ”
“And I think this apology is BS. Self-whipping is ridiculous and a performance. I believe in apology and atonement. This ticking all the boxes, saying the right things, but it doesn’t feel real.” And actually I don’t care. I never heard of this person. strange lie. And pathetic. I’ll forget this in an hour. It’s just a self-serving apology. Oh well. ”
Using the pseudonym Jess La Jess La Bombalera, Krug testified before the New York City Council on June 9, 2020, as reported by News One. Krug used a fake accent as shown in a YouTube video.
“So I have a few things to say, and when you tell me my time is running out, get the fuck out of here,” he says, part of the video. “I also want to call out to those white New Yorkers who waited for hours to talk to us and didn’t leave their time to black and brown native New Yorkers.”
She went on to talk about racial inequality and gentrification and called for the abolition of the New York Police Department. “The police are a colonial occupation force,” he said. “If the city is for us, the NYPD can’t stay.”
