Cumberland County prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced at a press conference Monday that Kevin K. Dawkins, 36, was arrested and charged with several charges related to the use and possession of weapons. The prosecutor’s office will take action to be tried in pretrial detention.
New Jersey officials have so far arrested and charged one person in connection with the deadly fire at a house party over the weekend, which has resulted in the deaths of two and injuring a dozen others.

Dawkins is accused of illegal possession of weapons, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, and not possessing a specific person’s weapon and weapons for illegal purposes.
A law enforcement agency confirmed to Fox News that Dawkins was the same man listed on the New Jersey sex offender register. According to the New Jersey State Police, Dawkins was found guilty of serious sexual assault in 2004 for an incident involving a young woman acquaintance.

An unconfirmed number of people approached a house party on Saturday, firing into the crowd and killing two people: 25-year-old Asia Hester and 30-year-old Kevin Elliot. About 700 people attended the party, according to officials.
Grewal called the attack “targeted”.
Governor Phil Murphy said the attack was “a small universe of gun violence” across the country. He spoke strongly to support greater gun control, especially after firing.
“If it’s something we can’t normalize, it’s pointless gun violence,” Murphy said. “We can’t let it happen next time.”
“This incident only reinforces my determination to have New Jersey lead the nation in gun safety,” he added. “We cannot throw our heads in the sand and say that this is the price we pay in a free society.”
