Kurt Reinhold Shot Dead & Video

A newly released video shows a deadly confrontation between deputies and a homeless man in San Clemente, California, in September.

In the video, it was heard that two assistants of the Orange County sheriff had randomly decided whether to meet 42-year-old Kurt Reinhold. Lawmakers were on patrol assigned to the homeless welfare team.

One of the deputies said, “Watch this, it will pass at the red light.”

Then a MP asks Reinhold, “Are you going to stop or will we have to stop you?”

“Walking in the red light here? That’s ridiculous,” Reinhold said.

The witness mobile phone video shows that the confrontation is increasing rapidly. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you touching me?” Said Reinhold.

Minutes later, both MPs fought Reinhold. One of the deputies shouted that his gun was in Reinhold. The surveillance video seems to show Reinhold’s hand next to one of his holsters. Then a deputy shoots two shots.

The only official comment said that a pre-recorded video from the sheriff’s department held the verdict “until all the facts are known and the investigations are complete.”

The Reinhold family’s lawyer, John Taylor, said the September 23 meeting was “an obvious, racially motivated stop”.

“They create conflict. They escalate conflict. They are the first to put their hands on it and they eventually take his life and shoot him,” Taylor said.

Reinhold’s family sued Orange County, alleging that lawmakers had violated their Fourth and 14th Amendment rights and were guilty of negligence, according to CBS Los Angeles. The MPs returned to duty despite their reassignment.
