Leon Taylor said he was an American murder suspect who was released after escaping custody Monday afternoon while being extradited from Texas to Northwest Indiana.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department announced on December 14 that Taylor of Hammond had fled in Gary during his extradition from Texas. He escaped around 3 in the afternoon. from a private under contract van that takes her to Lake County Prison.
The Times of Northwest Indiana reports that the van driver picked up Taylor from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. He then stopped in a McDonald’s car to “guarantee” the suspect to eat before going to jail. The Times of Northwest Indiana asked the driver to open his window so that Taylor could “spit”. The outlet later reported that it escaped through the open window.
The sheriff said Taylor has been described as a six foot tall Black male who weighs around 162 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department at Facebook, Taylor wore a handcuffed belly chain and leg support when she was on the run.

Martinez warned that Taylor was “seen as dangerous”. He encourages anyone who knows the whereabouts of the murder suspect to call 911 immediately.
Taylor was arrested for a murder in Dallas County, Texas on December 2.
Taylor is accused of an East Chicago-based murder. The Times of Northwest Indiana said Taylor was arrested in connection with the murder of 52-year-old Chicago-based Daniel Nitzsche on November 19, citing “a source close to the investigation”.
