Anderson said that officers detained her and sent other officers to do a medical checkup at her home at block 900 of West Homestead Road.

“When our officers got there, they unfortunately found the suspect’s wife dead in the garage and found the suspect’s daughter dead in one of the bathrooms,” Anderson said. “Shortly after that, we immediately arrested the suspect.”

Anderson said the officers arrived at a terrible scene and “unfortunately found the suspect’s wife dead inside the garage and the suspect’s daughter in one of the bathrooms.”

Yamburg was arrested and “refused to be interviewed or provided any additional details and exercised his right to a lawyer,” Anderson said.

A lawyer for Yamburg was not immediately identified by PEOPLE. It is unclear whether he is currently making an appeal.

Online records from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office show that Yamburg was registered at the county’s main prison on Thursday and held without bail.

Yamburg’s wife was identified as Svetlana Nikitina, but the authorities did not reveal her daughter’s name.

Santa Clara County Medical Inspector-Coroner is investigating the causes of Nikitina and her daughter’s death. The medical examiner-coroner did not immediately respond to PERSONS ‘request for comment.

Anderson described the alleged double murder as “a terrible tragedy” and said “our hearts were broken for the family, the victims and all their friends.”
