Authorities shot Canal 44 twice by the gunman in the attack on Saturday (November 21st) and died almost instantly. Cali Mayor Jorge Ivan Ospina condemned the “cowardly” killer.
“Everything shows that she’s her ex-boyfriend so it’s a new case of femicide,” she tweeted. “Why don’t early warning systems work for domestic abuse, harassment and sexual violence?” He asked.
The mayor also offered a £ 4,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. “We cannot allow this crime to go unpunished,” Ospina said. He added that 70 women have been killed in the city so far this year and that 20 cases considered as femicide were the murder of a woman by a current or former spouse.
