Megan Ficklen was killed over the weekend, leaving her two young sons without a mother. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder of a young mother with two children in San Leon, about 20 minutes from League City.
Investigators reacted to the clash that took place at around 7:00 am on Saturday in 300 blocks of 7th street. 21-year-old Megan Ficklen was allegedly shot by boyfriend Anthony Castellanos of the same age.

Authorities say a young Texas mother with two children was fatally shot over the weekend and now her boyfriend is charged with murder.
Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset told PEOPLE that at around 7 am on Saturday, police reacted to a fire at a house on 7th Street in San Leon.
Sheriff Trochesset found 21-year-old Megan Ficklen, who was allegedly shot by her 21-year-old boyfriend, Anthony Castellanos, by lawmakers from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
Ficklen had been shot several times, “but he could still communicate,” he says.
He was later taken to a local hospital where he died.
According to Sheriff Trochesset, Castellanos fled the scene of the shooting, allegedly in his father’s house.
“We started looking for him and found him in Houston,” he says.
At 18:50, Castellanos was arrested at a residence on Sageleaf Lane in Houston.
He was charged with murder and parole board order, according to Galveston County Prison online records.
The sheriff said he was held in Galveston County Prison with a $ 400,000 bond. It is unclear if he hired a lawyer to speak on his behalf.
Castellanos has not made a defense yet. The police are still investigating what caused the conflict.
While the police search for answers, Ficklen’s family mourns his death.

“Being at that age and ending your life is tragic, especially if you have children,” Sheriff Trochesset describes the death of the young mother as “devastating.”

Sheriff Henry Trochesset said the 21-year-old Ficklen died Saturday afternoon after being shot several times before 7 am on the 300 block of Seventh Avenue in San Leon.
Trochesset said that Ficklen was transferred to the Clear Lake District Hospital, where he died.
Trochesset said the researchers found Castellanos on Saturday afternoon at block 10900 of Sage Leaf Lane in Houston. Police found a pistol at the scene but said it did not link it to the shooting in San Leon.
Trochesset said the sheriff’s office is still investigating the incidents that led to the shooting. Investigators said they believe Ficklen and Castellanos lived at Seventh Avenue.
According to prison records, Castallenos was held in Galveston County Prison on a $ 40,000 bond and parole warrant for murder charges on Sunday.
