Cyril Salomon Wiki

Cyril Salomon had his head high above the clouds on the Grandes-Jorrasses when he decided to record the vertigo-inducing view downwards.

This is the stomach-churning footage taken by a mountaineer climbing along an unbelievably steep and slim ridge. The mountain is part of the towering Mont-Blanc massif (mountain group) above Chamonix, on the French-Italian border.

Cyril Salomon recorded Video

In the video, recorded during the summer climbing season, Cyril can be seen traversing his way along the face of the mountain.

Cyril was making the climb with his brother and cousin.

Using a head camera, he reveals the large drop on either side of the high ridge, a view that would have anyone’s palms sweating.

The drop below reaches 1000 meters, with only a few feet in width with limited hand and foot space.

Using the small claws of the crampons in his boots, and attached only to a thin green rope, he slowly climbs to the dangerous outcrop, with nothing under his feet. However, keeping his focus, he crosses the obstacle before looking at another challenging rock face.

“In this place, the earring (mountain crest) is so thin that you can grab it with your hands,” Cyril said. ‘There are more than 1000 meters of vacuum on each side, and there are not many warehouses to set foot, especially with crampons. “There is so much emptiness that it feels like flying somehow.”
