Quindon Tarver died at the age of 38. Uncle Kevin Tarver, the former child star known for his performance in the 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet, confirmed that he died in a car accident.The singer’s uncle, Kevin Tarver, confirmed the news of his death to The Dallas Morning News. His uncle said that his nephew died after having an accident on the Texas highway last Thursday.

The tragedy came when the 38-year-old focused his efforts on a musical comeback.

Tarver began singing in a church choir in 1996. In the same year, she appeared as a choir child in Baz Luhrmann’s movie Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Tarver explained in a 2017 interview that she is currently working in insurance, adding that her singing career was a victim of harassment and “slowed down after she became completely spiral” with drink and drugs.

Tarver’s “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” and Prince’s “When Doves Cry” were included in the soundtrack of Romeo + Juliet and gained double platinum status by selling two million copies. It was part of the music video for Madonna’s song Like a Prayer, according to The Daily Beast.

He released a new single “Stand Our Ground” in October 2020.

Tarver performed covers of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” and Rozalla’s “Everybody’s Free” in the 1996 movie. Her songs also featured on the film’s double platinum soundtrack.

His debut album, released the same year as the movie, included the hit single “It’s You That’s On My Mind”. The singers went on a tour with Brandy and Monica. However, he returned to Texas shortly after gaining fame at the age of 14.

Tarver said in an interview in 2017 that his career was stalled because he said he was “raped and abused” as a child in the music industry. He said that in 2012 he struggled with drugs and alcohol and attempted suicide.
