Atlanta-based rapper 6 Dogs, whose real name is Chase Amick, died on January 26th by suicide, first reported by Everything Georgia on Twitter. He was 21 years old.
There’s no official confirmation of his death, but Benny Blanco, producer on Amick’s Mad Love label, tweeted, “Your favorite rapper could have been 6 dogs … but for me he was one of the kindest, toe-painting, star-gazing ones to make art, daydream. , thoughtful, warmest spirits I have ever met. ”

Amick, who amassed 164,000 followers on Instagram, posted just one video from February 2018 at the time of his death. On Tuesday, the comments section was filled with “RIP” messages. Rapper Lil Aaron tweeted, “Smash 6 dogs. true underground legend. went from some internet rap songs to benny blanco. goat forever. ”
Mick began his rap career secretly. Growing up in a Christian family, he was recording songs in his friend Tommy’s basement. He appeared on the rap scene via SoundCloud in 2016.
His most famous songs include “Faygo Dreams” with over 14 million views on YouTube and “Flossing” with nearly 7 million views. Basement.
Amick was only 17 years old and was still in high school speaking to the Masked Gorilla. When asked where he saw himself in a year, he said to the exit: “No, I don’t know why, but I want to cry right now. It’s crazy. I feel like whatever I say will really happen.… I think I’ll probably have an apartment in Midtown, I’ll be chilling when I’m playing music, but I also think I will travel doing crazy things. ”
According to The Bird Feed, the 18-year-old rapper lived alone with his girlfriend and was able to focus fully on his music career. Amick told the debut at the time that he felt like he was living in a dream.
“It’s crazy how people even listen to my music and love it that much,” he said. “The other day, ‘Wow. I can’t believe it really works. I get paid to do what I love and it doesn’t even feel like a job.”
Amick told The Bird Feed that music helped him cope with stress and depression, but what struck the rapper most was that his fans reached out to him to tell him that his music saved their lives when they thought of committing suicide.
“It feels really good to be able to help people like this, especially since I know what that is like,” he said. My favorite words in “Faygo Dreams”, which The Bird Feed describes as “a way to encourage fans to embrace their struggles,” are “thankful for these wounds right now” and “people are coming out stronger on the other side.”
The rapper announced on Twitter on July 1 that he tested positive for the coronavirus. She tweeted, “I just ran a covid test and my results came back positive: / I’m str8 just a pretty bad headache. I’m a healthy good so I have to be good. Unfortunately this will cause a delay in the album to rock with me.”
In September, the rapper was still excited about releasing new music. He tweeted, “There will be a lot of fire music out there. Covid is shaping good artists on all fronts.”

The music of 6 Dogs brought awareness of Suicide and Mental Health Issues. He told The Bird Feed that creating music helped him relieve stress and express his honest feelings, but what impressed the rapper most was that his fans said his music prevented them from dying by suicide.
Talking to the Masked Gorilla, Amick talked about his mental health struggles.
“I was super depressed, you know, sometimes I still have some kind of feelings but most of the time I’m right but I just needed an outlet,” he said in 2017. “I’ve always wanted to rap. I remember sitting on the lifeguard for 8 hours or more a day all summer long and just sitting and I was like,” It’s awful, I want to do something with my life. ”
His last tweet was a screenshot of Ray Daniels asking other musicians to reach out to those suffering from depression.

Fans, friends and rappers filled Twitter with condolences after news of the death of 6 Dogs. One person tweeted, “He spent my entire middle school life listening to his own work, it is really one of the reasons why I make music, and the person I am today is me, the self-titled project they put out in 2017 is indeed one of my favorite music pieces ever Rest in Heaven 6dogs :(. ”
