Sergeant. Sean Rios died after being shot multiple times on North Freeway’s 7700 blocks. Sergeant. Sean Rios from the Houston Police Department was a plainclothes police officer who died Monday after a gun battle near the Northern Ring Road, according to Chief Art Acevedo.

Acevedo said that Rios left behind four children aged 17, 14, 12, and 9, as well as their parents who were HPD detectives, a brother and two cousins.
“We will never forget her and we will see her 4 children, family and friends with this painful loss,” she tweeted, “Priest.”

On Monday evening, his body was taken to the medical practice, where his brothers and sisters in HPD paid tribute to him. The arrival video can be viewed in the above player.
What we know about the sergeant in the hours after he was killed is as follows: While the incident was still under investigation and a suspect was still on the run, it happened, Acevedo said that Rios had gone to the airport for the start of her shift during the gunfight.
He was shot multiple times, then rushed to the nearby Taj Inn & Suites where he sought help. He fainted and later died on the spot.
Rios became the fourth member of the HPD who died on duty and the second in the last three weeks.
Last month, Sergeant. Harold Preston, who was scheduled to retire this year after 41 years in HPD, died after responding to a family dispute.
Officer Jason Knox died in May 2020, when his HPD helicopter crashed.
And in December 2019, Sgt. Christopher Brewster was shot and killed while facing suspicion of domestic violence in Houston’s East End.
The Houston Fire Department also lost one of them as a result of a violent act. Arson investigator Lemuel Bruce died while chasing a suspect.
