Police spokesman Eddy Durkin declined to identify the victim on Sunday, citing the department’s interpretation of the Marsy Law, a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2018. The law is intended to protect victims of crimes but deprives the public of information that was long available in Florida under the state’s public records law.
