He was survived by his wife and children Thomas Michael Lindley and Margaret Louise Wittman (née Lindley), as well as his step-daughter, Daryle Ann Giardino (née Wofford). His funeral was held at Presbyterian Church of the Forty Niners in Columbia, California, where he was a member. His remains were scattered over his favorite trail areas. His wife died in 2011 at the age of 89 or 90.
