Stephan Cannon Charge & Arrest
The fatal shooting was captured on live video on Facebook but has been taken down. The video showed Dorn, 77, sprawled out on the sidewalk bleeding as looters continued to go into and out of the store he was trying to protect.
Cannon was also charged with theft, burglary, armed criminal action, and illegal possession of a firearm. According to the collection documents, Cannon and others can be seen on surveillance video, leaving a Pontiac G6 outside the pawnshop and then going to the store and grabbing multiple TVs. At one point, Cannon was the only one standing in a corner outside the store, and then Dorn arrived. Police said the video shows Cannon pointing the gun at Dorn and then Dorn is seen falling to the ground. Witnesses told police that someone yelled at people inside the store and told them it is time to leave after they were shot. Police found several 9mm bushings in the corner.
2nd Suspect (Jimmie Robinson)
A second suspect, Jimmie Robinson, was charged with burglary, armed criminal action, and stealing, according to the same Twitter thread. His bond was set at $30,000, cash-only.
Stephan Cannon Killed David Dor ( Retired Police Officer)
Cannon, who was one of the “persons of interest” seen ransacking a St. Louis pawn shop on surveillance footage last Monday, was charged with the murder of Dorn, a black police captain who retired after serving over 38 years on the force.
Police Investigation & Report
Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner wrote on Twitter that “an extensive homicide investigation … retrieved surveillance footage of the company where the incident occurred and other nearby companies in the area.” According to the indictment documents, Cannon and others can be seen in a surveillance video leaving a Pontiac G6 outside the pawn shop and then going to the store and grabbing multiple TVs, KMOV4 reported.
Police say they believe Cannon was the one who shot Dorn to death, leaving him to die on the sidewalk outside the establishment, as he appeared to be “the only person standing in the corner” at the time of the shooting and “multiple columns of smoke.” You could see it waving from where it was standing. In addition to that, used casings were found at the site of what police believe was the crime scene. A chilling video has been circulating on social media showing a bloody Dorn dying on the sidewalk outside the store. Police knew Cannon, charged with misdemeanor theft in February, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported. In an attempt to cover his tracks, Cannon attempted to change his appearance after the image of him looting the store as part of a group of youths was distributed to the public. Cannon was arrested and is being held without bond. Police also arrested another man, Jimmie Robinson, in connection with the incident. He has been charged with one count of robbery, one count of armed criminal action, and one count of robbery. His bonus was set at $ 30,000 in cash.
