Steve Bannon Arrest & Charge

Bannon, along with three of his friends, was indicted on Thursday by investigators in the US Southern District of New York. According to the press release, they claim that the group of conservative leaders defrauded donors, resulting in “collecting more than $ 25 million to build a wall along the US southern border”.

Federal prosecutors said former Trump campaign manager and White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was charged with fraudulent charges related to a fundraising campaign to build a border wall in New York.

Bannon is among four people accused of defrauding hundreds of thousands of donors to the online “We Build the Wall” campaign.

Manhattan federal prosecutors alleged that Bannon, campaign leader Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato and Timothy Shea “received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donation funds from We Build the Wall, each of which was inconsistent with the organization’s public representations.”

“We Build The Wall” started as a GoFundMe campaign in late 2018 to raise money directly from the public to build a border wall against opposition from Congress.

While Kolfage expressly guarantees that it will not receive salaries or compensation and that 100 percent of the funds collected will go to the wall, the indictment claims that it actually received more than $ 350,000 for personal use and took steps to disguise it.
