Barnes was shot in the arm and leg, police said. The bullet that pierced his arm entered his chest and left him with a deadly wound. He later died at St. Barnabas Hospital.

Cole was charged with murder, homicide, theft, and possession of weapons, although it was not clear whether the theft was the main reason for Barnes’s death, police said.
