Victor Fajardo Wiki – Victor Fajardo Biography
As COVID-19 continues to die, a northern suburban community on Saturday honored a letter carrier who lost its battle against the virus.
Victor Fajardo has been a letter carrier for over 20 years. Neighbors in Deerfield learned that he began treatment for COVID in October, was stuck on a ventilator, and had recently died.
On Saturday, the neighbors set up a condolence box in front of the police station. It was set up for the community to securely place cards, memories, notes and thank you notes for the family.
“I definitely think we see a lot of sadness. I also think it’s a really sober reminder that no one is immune to it – even if you’re healthy and you walk a five-hour route every day and people love you,” said neighbor Cara McGowan. “Anyone can get coronavirus. Unfortunately, right now we really need to mask, protect ourselves and keep our loved ones close. ”
The box will stay in place for a week.
Also, a GoFundMe campaign raised more than $ 13,000 to help Fajardo’s family with final expenses.
