Police Investigation & Report
Police say the young victim and two siblings went to Knuth’s home on Laurel Drive with their mother at 9 pm on Saturday.
The mother told investigators that she left her children and the son of a friend playing with Nerf guns alone with Knuth, whom he described as a friend’s brother, for up to 10 minutes before hearing a loud ‘pop’. The woman entered the room and found her son bleeding from the knee. The other children told the woman that ‘Anthony’ had shot him, Fox 35 reported. The mother said that when she saw the children playing with Nerf guns, Knuth allegedly boasted that he had a real gun and that he was going to carry it with a real bullet. After firing the gun and injuring the seven-year-old boy, Knuth was heard saying that he would go to jail because he had shot a child.
The victim was rushed to AdventHealth Lake Mary, where doctors found part of a .22-caliber rifle bullet lodged in the child’s leg requiring surgery to repair the damage, reported Orlando Sentinel.
Knuth reportedly told police he had been drinking Southern Comfort whiskey and beer, and didn’t remember what happened to the boy.
He added that if he did shoot the child, it was an accident.
Knuth was ordered held in the Seminole County Jail on $15,263 bail.
According to his Facebook page, Knuth works as a house pointer. His social media account is replete with photos of a wide array of alcoholic beverages
