Don Shula was married twice. He married his first wife Dorothy Bartish on July 19, 1958. The couple had five children. Dorothy died of breast cancer on February 25, 1991. Don Shula Career

Shula began his coaching career with the Baltimore Colts in 1963. He coached the Colts from 1963 to 1969. With the Colts, Shula was 71-23-4 and led the team to an NFL Championship in 1968. He took over The Dolphins in 1970 Coached the Dolphins for 26 seasons. During the 1972 season, the Dolphins became the only team in NFL history to finish an entire season undefeated and win the Super Bowl. He led the Dolphins to five AFC championships and two Super Bowl victories. He retired in 1995 and ended his career as a four-time NFL coach of the year. Before training, Shula was defensive in the NFL. He played for the Cleveland Browns in the 1951 and 1952 seasons. From 1953 to 1956 with the Colts and in 1957 with the Washington Redskins. During his playing career, he had 21 interceptions. In 1991, Shula founded the Don Shula Foundation for Breast Cancer Research in memory of his first wife Dorothy Bartish, who died of breast cancer on February 25, 1991.

Don Shula died on May 4, 2020, at the age of 90. The Dolphins confirmed his death in a statement: “Don Shula was the patriarch of the Miami Dolphins for 50 years. He brought the winning edge to our franchise and put the Dolphins and the city of Miami on the national sports scene. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Mary Anne along with her children, Dave, Donna, Sharon, Anne and Mike. ”

Don Shula, the former Dolphins coach, passed away on May 4, 2020, at age 90. According to the Dolphins, he passed away peacefully at his home from natural causes.
