Jimmy Webb NYC Rock Stylist

Immy Webb was a punk rock stylist who lived and breathed rock and roll, and his contagious energy to anyone entering Trash & Vaudeville was first opened in 1975. Webb started working at the store when he was just 16 years old. He spoke of his passion for keeping the iconic store afloat as St. Marks became highly gentrified over the decades. The store, owned by Ray Goodman, was moved to 96 East 7th Street in March 2016. Webb told The New York Times in 2013: “We are a true mom and pop, the rock ‘n’ roll clothing store. She is here for the truth and the spirit, just like Iggy Pop giving his best every night and continuing until everything in his body breaks except his soul and rock ‘n’ roll. We can move him to Mars and continue living. ”

On October 13, 2017, Webb opened his own rock boutique called I NEED MORE in New York City, and Webb credits Goodman for both his successful career and personal health. When the Met Gala chose punk rock as its theme in 2014, many expected the true rock stylists to take over the haute couture event. While Punk magazine founder Legs McNeil called the exhibition a “masturbatory fantasy for Anna Wintour and Vogue,” Webb welcomed it with open arms.

Tributes from friends came in on Tuesday including actress  Maureen Van Zandt, 68 who wrote: “Farewell, dear Jimmy. The sweetest, kindest, rock and roll soul. I’ll never forget you” tweeted actress. Chris Stein, 70, the guitarist for Blondie, also shared a tribute on Twitter Tuesday.
