John Prine (born October 10, 1946) is an American country folk singer-songwriter. He has been active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer since the early 1970s, and is known for an often humorous style of country music that has elements of protest and social commentary.

He graduated from high school in 1964 and worked for two years as a USPS mailman in Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, he started playing in bars, with a repertoire that included songs like Sam Stone and Paradise. In 1970 he obtained his first entry in the “Quinta Clavija”, then the “Conde de la Ciudad Vieja”. There she met Steve Goodman with whom she established friendly and admiring relationships.

“After a sudden onset of Covid-19 symptoms, John was admitted on Thursday, March 26. He was intubated on Saturday night and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical. Fiona Prine, the musician’s wife, said on March 20 that they were both in quarantine and isolated from each other after testing positive for coronavirus. She said in a video on Instagram, explaining that her husband’s results from coronavirus “undetermined.”
“There’s a chance he may not have this virus, and we are working really, really hard and being really diligent about all of the protocols. We are quarantined and isolated from each other and members of the family. It’s hard, I won’t lie, but it’s absolutely important.
